Behind The Designer: Random Facts

There is a trend some time ago going on in the world of Facebook these days that is called “25 Random Things“. The idea is simple. You create a list of 25 random facts or bits of trivia about yourself. They can be in any order and as big or miniscule as you desire. You then “tag” 25 of your friends (which means that they will be notified that you have posted this note on your Facebook profile page) and they are requested to then create a similiar list and tag 25 of their friends, but must include the person that tagged them among their 25 friends.
So here’s the list. Maybe you will relate to one or two of my facts, maybe you won’t. But sometimes it is cool to find that there is someone else in this world that has the same issue, like, or dislike that you do. It makes you feel just a bit more normal.
- I love to sleep with a fan on my face, and would do it year round if I could get away with it.
- When seeing a movie in the theaters, I like to get there about 15 minutes early. I can’t stand missing one trailer and really can’t stand it if I arrive and the movie has already started.
- My first concert was in 1985 when I was 16 years old. I went and saw Twisted Sister open for Iron Maiden at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.
- I have broken each kneecap…twice.
- My favorite season is Fall. Crisp. Overcast. The colors. And the stores start pushing the Christmas season, which in my book, isn't a bad thing.
- My favorite fictional character is Kosmo Kramer from Seinfeld.
- I am a huge Star Wars fan but have never attended a ComicCon or Star Wars Convention in my life. Sad fact… I know.
- Thanks to Magnum P.I., I had adolescent dream was to fly a helicopter for a living and have two pet Dobermans named “Zeus” and “Apollo”.
- My favorite sandwich is a Reuben… and not a hot pastrami posing as a Reuben, but an authentic East-coast style, piled high cornbeef on rye, with the dressing and sauerkrawt laid on thick Reuben. Thankfully, I experienced the best on the planet at Carnegie’s Deli in New York.
- I was the first teenager to test out a working coin-op prototype of the video arcade game “Millipede” (my mom worked for Atari).
- I hold my breath when I towel-dry my hair….and I have no idea why.
- My favorite candy is Smarties and BottleCaps. And if I am feeling extra adventureous, I will put both in to a bowl and mix them.
- There are three songs I could put on infinite repeat and not ever get sick of: “Until I Wake Up” by Dishwalla, "Watch Over You" by Alter Bridge, and "More Than A Feeling" by Boston.
- I love reading whodunit mystery novels.
- I dated my wife for only 3 months before proposing, we were engaged for 5 months, and we have been married for over 20 years.
- My great=grandfather was a Rear Admiral in the Navy. My father served on a battleship in the Navy. And...I get seasick. Like, green-faced pasty seasick.
- My dream vacation is to travel the back-country roads of Tuscany with my wife.
- I am waiting for someone to invent a devise that will re-salt your Margarita glass half-way when you are halfway through your drink.
- I hate spiders….yup, I’ll admit it. They freak the heck out of me.
- I don’t like to mix ketchup and Ranch dressing. If I did, I would serve up my fries with a side of Thousand Island dressing.
- I like my ice cream hard. In other words, if I have to chisel my way through some Ben and Jerry’s… well, that’s a good thing.
- I almost drowned from an accident involving being pulled behind a houseboat on a windsurfer board.
- I love anchovies on my pizza.
- I will appeared in a reality tv show in the Fall of 2009 on PBS.
- I used to collect Mad Magazine when I was a teenager. I still have the box laying around in the garage and my oldest issue is November 1964.
