Once in a while, there is such concept and ingenuity poured into a printed piece that is staggering. Nothing could be farther from this point than this annual report/book project for Ardis Group, a Croatian company that specializes in tobacco and tourism.
As a employee-owned company, the project was birthed as a result to display ten short personal stories in which workers/stockholders share their view of the past, present, and future of Adris Group and how the firm impacts their lives.
The book’s (English) title is “In Good Hands” and is short for their mantra “Good Things Grow in Good Hands”. But where the real brilliance of this cover design lies is both on top and underneath it rich black outside. A thermo ink was printed over an off-set printed cover. The result: The black (therma ink) disappears to reveals a green floral texture when exposed to the heat of the hands, thus metaphorically showing that hands can achieve whatever they want to. The more you handle the book, the more the real cover (with its visual references to growth) appear.
This cover and book design was done by Bruketa & Žinić, an international award-winning advertising agency based out of Croatia.
